Scraped Chin

Delko enjoying his toy.

This is one of my favorite new pictures of Leah, just look at the joy!

Cavan, Leah, Payton, Delko, and I went for our nightly "w" tonight. We went left this time to walk past the big ponds. We always bring either a frisbee or a b-a-l-l to play fetch with Payton at the very end of the "w". We left it in the grass so we could enjoy our "w" without Payton bugging us for it the entire time. Delko is finally warming up to Payton, and wanted to chase her. We let both dogs off leash and watched them happily chase after each other. It really was cute. Cavan and I would keep calling Payton back to us, and praising her for being so well behaved.

I don't know if she caught wind of an animal, or she really wanted her frisbee; but she took off towards the apartments. I called her thinking she would come right back. She kept running. I called her again, this time with a little more seriousness (because it is also right next to a non-busy road, but sometimes people use it as a race track), still, nothing. Then right as I was saying, "Payton NO!" She fell down a ditch and made a horrible noise, I honestly have only ever heard that noise one other time in my life and it is when I witnessed a dog getting hit by a car.

I took off running, as fast as my legs would go. I dropped the leash because it was obviously slowing me down. Cavan said I was at least going 35mph (hehe). Payton is not as agile as she used to be, and I was so worried. When I got to her she was standing with her eyes closed, I grabbed her and tried to calm myself down so I could make sure she was alright. Her pupils were not right, and she wasn't breathing for what seemed like forever. Once Cavan made it to us she was acting better. I made her walk a little bit and her eyes looked much better, oh- she was also breathing by now :-). She must have face dived into the ditch, scraped her chin, and knocked the wind out of her.

To say the least, I was a wreck. I am sure everyone reading this knows my love for Miss Payton. She is fine now, and we took a couple pictures to show off her battle wounds (They don't look so bad in the pictures, just dirty).

Now about Leah!! The last few nights she has been sleeping for 6-8 hours at a time. I feel like a new person! She usually goes to bed around 7:30-8:30 (depending on her last nap) and wakes up around 3-4am to eat, and goes back to sleep until 7-8. Good girl Leah!

She has also been trying more and more foods. She tried meat for the first time today. She is actually swallowing the foods too! So far she has tried:
Pears, Apples, Sweet Potatoes, Peas, Brown Rice, Bananas, Oatmeal, Chicken, Plumbs, and Carrots.

She's getting to be such a good girl. I cannot believe how big she is getting, and what a personality! We are so in love with this little girl God has blessed us with. She is amazing, and so adorable. She is growing so fast, and is literally seconds away from crawling. She can "commando crawl" she pulls herself and pushes her legs with her belly dragging. She hasn't figured out how to get all the way up, but I don't think it will be long.

Her eye color is finally here. We have been guessing for the last 7 months. Some days they looked blue, some days green, and some days brown. We have come to the conclusion her eyes are hazel. In the sun, they look blue with gold flecks. I think she got her gorgeous eyes from her Grandpa Carlson and her Great Grandpa Todd. Her hair is coming in a sandy blond color. I thought for sure my child would have brown hair and brown eyes! I love how she is a good mix of the two of us! Have a great night! Thank you Lord Payton is OK!
