Meltdown Central

Wow.  This week has been rough!  Leah has been a toddler... a really bad toddler!  She has been whiny, clingy, crying constantly, and having more meltdowns than we know what to do with.  All we have to do is look at her and she cries, but if we don't look at her, she also cries!  She cries when we offer her food, then she cries when she's hungry.  What are we doing wrong???  We have to be constantly holding her, and too bad for us if we have to use the bathroom!  I don't understand what her problem is.  She had such a rough time falling asleep last night after I nursed her, she wanted to nurse, but she didn't want to all at the same time.  Then she had a major meltdown when I finally told her all done after 10 times of starting and stopping nursing.  She then woke up at 4am this morning.  Cavan was holding her watching a video and she ended up falling asleep for 3 minutes.  She decided she had her normal 2 hour nap, and didn't nap for the rest of the day until she fell asleep in the car on the way to Grandpa and Grandma's house.  We ended up driving around for an extra 10 minutes so she could sleep a little longer.

We ordered books.. 6 to be exact.  I cannot wait to receive them.  We looked up some of her attributes and found out she is a "High Needs Toddler" or a "Spirited Child".  Most high needs toddlers are super sensitive, very intense, wear their parents out more than most, but if raised correctly, become amazing adults.  I ordered a few books based on her high needs, so I am really hoping we find some helpful hints.  I also learned we aren't doing anything wrong.  High needs children are very emotional, and since we don't know how to properly speak to a high needs child, she has more meltdowns.  I cannot wait to try new things and help her become the person I know she is.

She went to sleep much better tonight.  I really hope she gets a wonderful night sleep and wakes up much happier.  We are ready to have our happy girl back!

  1. We also have one of these spirited children! Would you mind sharing the titles you ordered? Looking to expand my reading. :)
