Fever Baby

Leah and I went to the park today and met some of the moms and kids from our Christian mom's group.  Leah had a great time playing on the playground.  I had her covered in chemical free sun screen - everywhere but her head because I had this adorable hat.  Unfortunately she wouldn't keep her hat on.  She had so much fun she passed out in the car before I even turned it on.  I didn't think much of it, and got her out of the car when we got home, and nursed her back to sleep.  She slept in her crib for a good 3 hours after that.

When I went to pick her up, I noticed her head was really warm, but thought maybe it was sunburn.  I tried giving her some lunch, but she wasn't interested.   While I was cleaning up the kitchen she was whining on the other side of the gate for me, so I picked her up and she immediately snuggled in.  I laid on the couch, and she just stayed on my chest.  I had a feeling this was a little more than sunburn now.  She was really warm so I took her clothes off and we both ended up falling asleep on the couch.  She never does this!

When she woke up, she seemed a little out of it so I gave her a warm bath.  I tried to keep her as warm as I could so she wouldn't get chilled, but the second I got her out of the tub she started shivering.  I grabbed her really warm blanket and nursed her for 45 minutes.  Thank goodness she didn't pee on me!

I then put one of her Praise Baby videos in and snuggled again.  While she was occupied I checked her temperature under her arm.  To my amazement it was 102!  I knew she was hot, but I didn't think she'd be that hot.  I know under the arm isn't as accurate as a rectal temperature too, but I didn't want to upset her anymore.  I gave her 3 full sippy cups (she drank them all), and she wanted a banana - so Daddy had to stop on the way home to the grocery store.  She ate her banana and some toasted oats, but she really didn't want much more.  We did get her to drink a little of a protein shake, and she was ready for bed!

Cavan helped entertain Leah while I took the dreaded rectal temperature.  She did as well as someone could... I was happy to see her temperature was down to 101.3, so I knew it went down significantly since the last reading was just under her arm pit.  I then nursed her for about 10 minutes and she was ready for her crib.  She gave me a kiss and out she went.  I heard her briefly about 5 minutes ago, but she quieted down really quickly.  I hope she sleeps well and feels wonderful in the morning.  I cant stand when my baby doesn't feel well.

Cavan took some pictures when we fell asleep, I think they are so precious.  Enjoy and please pray my baby girl will feel better by the morning!!
