Sleep!!! Finally!!!!

Here's Delko! He's coming home this Saturday!!

Cavan and I went to Barnes and Noble on Friday. I was looking in the childhood/mothering section on books about disciplining and sleeping. I found this AMAZING book called, "The No-Cry Sleep Solution". Let me tell you, I had to have it! I read the whole thing in one sitting, and learned I was doing a lot of things right, but didn't have the entire concept. I learned I was actually making it worse thinking Leah would sleep longer if I kept her up later. I also learned I can slowly create a trusting bond between Leah and myself.

Last night we gave Leah a bath, I nursed her, and put her in bed at 7:30. Fingers crossed... I checked on her 2 times before we went to bed. I was anticipating her waking up around 10-11 for me to comfort her back to sleep. To my HUGE amazement.. I opened my eyes at 3:43am, still no peep from Leah!! Wow, I was shocked, and a little worried! I ran to her room only to put my finger under her nose to make sure she was still breathing (silly, I know). I sat there for about 3 minutes watching her chest go up and down, up and down... ok Jen, she's fine! I went back to bed and just sat there. I wanted so badly for her to wake up, I know it sounds so weird, but that was the longest I have ever been apart from her. About 15 minutes later she started to whimper and I raced in there only to find a smiling baby. I nursed her for about 10 minutes, and she fell back asleep until 8 this morning! Good girl Leah!!!

Oh- I just wanted to brag about my amazing husband. Saturday morning Cavan got up early with Leah. When I woke up around 8 I found some very colorful flowers in a vase on the kitchen counter. There he was, cleaning the kitchen with Leah in the bouncy seat. I went to check out the flowers and found an adorable note.. it read,

"Mom, Being a mom is hard work... Thank you for taking care of me, daddy, and Payton! Daddy wanted different flowers, but I knew you would like all of these cool colors. Love, Leah"

He's way too sweet. He got up early with Leah, lugged her to the store just to get me flowers, and cleaned the kitchen... Oh how I love him. By the way, today is the 2 year anniversary of our engagement. I would have never thought 2 years ago I would be here just 2 years later, but I couldn't be happier!
